Tango had been with us for quite a long time! Unfortunately we’ve not been able to find a forever home for Tango so Doris Banham rescue kindly offered her a place.

Leah had been brought in by the West Lancs Dog Wardens she was ID Chipped but unfortunately we were unable to contact the registered owner so again Doris Banham Rescue kindly offered her a place. Leah

Once again we would like to say a massive thank you to Doris Banham Rescue for taking Tango and Leah on and we’ll look to staying in touch with them and seeing their progress.

Another Huge Thank you to Mane n Tails!

We would like to say another massive thank you to Mane ‘N’ Tails for taking these two guys on.

Unfortunately the Shar-pei wasn’t ID chipped and no one has come forward to claim him.Sharpei

As for Broadie (American Bulldog), she was ID chipped but the chip details weren’t up to date and no one has stepped up to claim her. Mane ‘N’ Tails will now look to find these two their perfect forever homes.

Massive Thank You to Greyhound Gap

We would like to say a huge thanks to Greyhound Gap for taking on Shandy. Shandy was brought into us via the St Helens dog wardens on June 6th. She is ID chipped but unfortunately her details weren’t up to date and no one came forward to claim her. Greyhound Gap kindly offered to take her on and will look to find her the perfect forever home. We shall look forward to keeping an eye on Shandy’s progress!

Case Study – Microchipping Part 3

We thought it would be interesting to share the current situation with found dogs and microchips so that there is some understanding as to what Dog Wardens and shelters are up against and see how this changes over the coming months.

Example: West Lancs area

April was very quiet and there were only 5 dogs seized by the wardens (and 2 of them were the same dog!).

So out of (effectively) 4 dogs, 3 were microchipped.

Of the 3 microchipped dogs, 2 had up to date owner information registered.

It seems the message hasn’t got through quite yet but we are always hopeful!

It is also disappointing that since the change in law there have been 11 ’21 day notice’ letters issued on behalf of Wigan Council to owners of dogs that are incorrectly registered.

6 of these have exceeded 21 days and have been followed up.

3 have been ignored, leaving the owners liable to large fines.

If your dog is not microchipped yet do not panic but it is the LAW so take       action now and take them to your vet or have it done here for £12.50.             We can also advise on updating microchips, please feel free to call.

Kennel Maintenance

Due to routine kennel maintenance part of the dog viewing section will be inaccessible to the public this week. If there are any of the dogs which you have seen on our website that you are interested in meeting please ask the staff who will be happy to bring them out to see you. Normal running and opening hours will be unaffected.

We apologise for any inconvenience.
